China southern Airlines promises future. The airline is the 6th biggest airline in the world and biggest in the China. According to researches China Southern Airlines traffic up 9.8% in Q1 2018. This is the China Southern Airlines Pax number in the period of 2008-2017:
The airline mainly operating in domestic routes, it’s about 86% (108.62 million in 2017). The international flights mainly focuses on Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
This is the charts that shows and estimates the pax (number of passenger per year):
Exponential
Linear
We believe that linear chart represents better forecasting than exponential because the company’s pax is more likely to grow linearlt than exponentialy (see chart 1). The 2018 number is estimated 129.24 and 2019 138.24 linearly. The exponential number estimation is 141.78 in 2018 and 156.01. We believe that exponential estimation would be too optimistic.

Introduction about Airline Ticket Pricing.
Prices founded between two cities chosen (Tokyo and Hanoi).
Our evaluation of the results.
The aim of this presentation is to find out the difference in prices of long haul flights (more than 6 hours flights) when using a direct flight (Tokyo – Hanoi by Vietnam Airlines), versus via some other hub airport (Tokyo — Hong Kong– Hanoi by Cathay Pacific Airlines)
The aim of this presentation is to define and explain what Ancillary Revenue is, and how it differs from one airline to another, ( LCC&FSC ) as an example, and how much is it valuable in the airline industry.
The goal of the research is to know
how the airline frequent flyer programs – FFP (also called airline loyalty
programs) work and are communicated to the customers.
What
is frequent flyer program ?
Frequent flyer program (also known as FFP) is using for attract
passengers. Airline companies give points to passengers each of the flight.
After certain amount of points, passengers may redeem their points (also called
miles) for air travel or other rewards such as airport lounge access or air
travel class upgrades. Points can be
earned with FFPs based on the class of fare, distance flown on that airline or
its partners, or the amount paid.
Situation of our chosen airlines’ frequent flyer
programs
We selected three airlines which are China Southern Airlines, Cathay
Pacific Airlines and AirAsia Airlines. Let’s examine these three
China Southern Airlines has a
Sky Pearl Club. It uses the kilometers flown as its currency. Passengers get
roughly 30 percent less value per point compared to miles programs. If
passenger becomes a member of frequent flyer program, he/she gets a vital
mileage rewards. The rewards are using products and services of banks, hotels
or other partners. The passengers also use their mileage rewards for redeem
free flight ticket. This is the example map of how much kilometers do you need
for free airline ticket.
Gold and Silver card members can further enjoy check-in priority, VIP lounges and other benefits.
Cathay Pacific has a Marco
Polo Frequent Flyer program. Passengers
can accumulate Marco Polo points with flying Cathay Pacific or Asia Miles with
flying Cathay Pacific or other spending like shopping. Passengers can redeem
Asia Miles via Flights, Hotels, Car rental, Experience awards and Lifestyle rewards
(The airline has donation option). Marco Polo club differentiating their
program into four categories. Green, Silver, Gold, Diamond. Passengers can
redeem free airline ticket. For example, Business class ticket Hong Kong to
Sydney return flight with Cathay Pacific would earn 11,480 Asia Miles and 85
Marco Polo club points.
Air Asia Airlines has a
Freedom flyer program. In this program passenger can earn BIG points based on
amount of spending, not distance traveled. They also have Qualifying Flown
Sectors. The main difference for these two is BIG points can be earned via
flying and spending made with non-airline partners. However Qualifying Flown
Sectors can only be earned by flying with Air Asia. Passenger can redeem their
points only in online which mean Air Asia mobile app or www.airasiabig.com. Minimum BIG
Points is required to redeem for a one-way flight is 500, and 1,000 BIG Points is
required for a return flight. Also, passengers can redeem BIG points for add-on
services. Moreover, Passengers can login to
their account at http://www.airasiabig.com and redeem BIG Points for Tune Hotel stays,
Kaligo e-vouchers, Klook e-vouchers and any other redemption items introduced
or offered by airline from time to time.
Comparison
We believe that China Southern Airlines have the best Frequent Flyer
program compared to these two. Since, Cathay Pacific Airlines and Air Asiana
Airlines have two FFP programs which can be confusing for passengers. According
to the J.D. Power 2019 Airline Loyalty Program Satisfaction Study, nearly half
(45%) of program members say they do not understand how to redeem their miles
and/or points. In addition to make
things more complicated is not good aspect we believe. Plus, Cathay Pacific
Airlines FFP points expires over a certain amount of time.
The aim of this presentation is that to be aware of one of the largest single costs of one airline which is fuel, and how this affects Full-Service Carrier (FSC), Low-Cost Carriers (LCC) and find out ways how the airline can reduce this cost.
outlines :
TOTAL FUEL COST OF EACH AIRLINE in 2017. Fuel Cost as a Percentage (%) of Total Cost in 2017. Ways To Reduce Fuel Cost. Estimate the potential savings in fuel for each airline.
In this research we are going to talk about City A-B, which are Istanbul and Helsinki, we will talk about the population, the number of flights in the two cities, the direct flight, the route capacity and the route traffic. First, we will talk about the population of the two countries and the two cities we are covering today. About Turkey the population of it is around 83.5 million, and Istanbul population is 15 million, moreover the population of Finland is approximately 5.5 million and Helsinki’s population is 648,042. Now we will move to the number domestic and internationals flights happened last year in the two cities, starting with Istanbul last year Istanbul airport serves over 40 million passengers total of 252,795 flights (63,856 domestic and 188.939 international), and Istanbul airport codes are (IATA: IST, ICAO: LTFM). On the other hand, Helsinki airport broke the record in 2018 as the passenger volume grew by 10.1 per percent compared to 2017, since it served nearly 22 million passengers during last year. More than 18 million international passengers and 3 million domestics. On average, the airport handled almost 350 flights a day. And for Helsinki their codes are (ICAO and IATA).
The chart for part 2
Thirdly, we are going to talk about the direct flights between the two countries on 3 Dec 2019, there are four Direct flight between Istanbul and Helsinki, and it is operated by Turkish Airline. Turkish Airlines, Economy, Boeing 737-800, TK 1761 (IST-HEL), Turkish Airlines, Airbus A321, TK 1762 (HEL – IST), Turkish Airlines, Airbus A321 (Sharklets), TK 1763 (IST-HEL), and Turkish Airlines, Airbus A321 (Sharklets), TK 1764 (HEL -IST).
Furthermore, about the route capacity and the number of seats and the ASK. Starting with the number of seats and the aircraft types used for the route, they use Boeing and Airbus aircraft types, for the Boeing type the aircraft has 155 seats and for airbus it has 182 seats, and the flying distance is 2170 km, so in order to count the ASK, (ASK = AS * KM) so ASK for one Boeing aircraft will be equal to 336,350 , and for one Airbus type it will be equal to 394,940. And about the driving distance between the two countries is 3124 KM in total. Finally, the load factor and RPK, according to the researched Turkish airline load factor 2019 for the international flight was 82.5% so if we multiply the AS and LF we will get the RP, as its mentioned above the capacity for Boeing is 155 and for airbus 182, so the RP for Boeing will be 127,875 and for the airbus its 150,15.
In this research we are going to talk about the safety record of three Airlines. These Airlines are Cathay pacific, Air Asia and China Southern Airlines, and the research covers these Airlines accident history, specifically the period between 2001 until now according to Air Asia as it has been established in 2001. Firstly, let’s start with Cathay pacific, the Airline has 11 accidents and incidents since it started their flight operations, but since 2001 till now they had 2 accidents one was in 2004 and it happened because of loss of control, and the other one was in 2010 because of engine stall with high speed landing.
Although Air Asia is one of the largest (LCC) airlines in Asia and the world, it has seven accidents and incidents since its inception in 2001 in the order in 2004, 2011, 2014 and four accidents in 2017. The Air Asia group has had a troubled history of technical failures and human error over the last five years. Comparing with China Southern Airlines and Cathay Pacific it has the largest number of accidents. In 2014 a A320 plane crashed after a high-altitude stall killing 162 people, which was the most horrible accident in the history of the Air Asia, which put pressure on them to raise the level of safety and a lot of changes in 2014. Most people believe that the cause of this number of accidents is because of the lack of experience for its new age in the aviation sector.
China southern Airlines was founded in 1988, and since it was founded until now the Airline had just three accidents and incidents because of three different reasons, the first one was on 1990 and it was hijacked the flight number was 2812, the second one was in 1992, the airplane crashed on descent to Guilin Airport, killing 141 abroad, Finally and the third one was in 1997, flight 3456, Boeing 737 crashed during the during the second attempt to land in thunderstorm. And since 1997 they haven’t had any accident, so from 2001 until now their percentage in the chart will be 0%
This chart presents the total number of accidents divided by 18, which is the number of years between 2001 and 2019. In this period China Southern Airlines didn’t have any accidents that’s why its percentage is 0, but Cathay Pacific had 2 accidents in 2004 and 2010 as it was mentioned above, with percentage of 22%, And Air Asia had 7 accidents in 2004,2011,2014 and 2017 with percentage of 78%.
Finally, Cathay Pacific Flight 780 (13/APR/2010) Flight accident, the flight was going from Surabaya international airport to Hong Kong, the occupation was 322, 309 passengers and 13 from the crew, and 57 passengers got injured. Fortunately, no one died, the accident happened because of Engine failure and landed at almost twice the speed of a normal landing. Analysis of the engines found that their fuel systems were contaminated with spherical particles. The Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department’s Accident Investigation Division concluded that the accident was caused by these spherical particles.
